I am currently a student at Wayne State University working towards my Masters in Art of Teaching with a concentration in secondary social studies. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2013 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism and documentary film. Upon graduation I worked at a small start up advertising agency in Detroit as a social media and community manager. After about a year in the advertising world, I need a change so I packed up my things and moved to a small city in Northeastern Thailand to teach English. It was here that I feel in love with the teaching profession and decided to make the career change right then and there. In my 25 years of life I have been fotunate enough to trave to over 30 countries and hope to keep traveling throughout the rest of my life. Besides traveling I love all outdoor activities (running, hiking, kayaking, swimming), spending time with my family, and weekends in northern Michigan.

Long Term Goals

As an educator, my short term goals are to better myself as an educator, and continue to learn and educate myself on all subject matters. I want to be successful not only in my pre student teaching, but in my student teaching as well and I want to better my classroom management skills. My goal is to graduate from Wayne in December of 2017 and start my teaching career as a social studies teacher in the Metro-Detroit area.

My long term goals are to become the best teacher I can be. I want to inspire students not only to learn and excel in the classroom, but to help them find and articulate their values. I want to have a lasting career educating students in the field of social studies. I want to be a teacher that students remember as years pass, and truly make an impact on their educational experiences. It is my goal to be more than an educator and to inspire all of my students to reach their full potential and view the world in a different light.
